An application programming interface (API) is a connection between computers or between computer programs. -Wikipedia Here are some examples of everyday APIs: booking a flight on a travel website, paying for an online product using PayPal, using the Google login to access this platform. If you could make connections in your life to make things easier (via an interface of some sort), what would those things be? My example would be to automatically schedule a last minute Airbnb vacation on the same weekend that has the best weather...and it would automatically cancel my planned events during that time. What would your personal API look like?

One of the reasons I love working with the Google community is this! They announced the launch of Google Cloud’s Autism Career Program, designed to hire and support more talented people with autism in the rapidly growing cloud industry. How awesome is that? They will to train up to 500 Google Cloud managers and others who are involved in hiring processes. They will empower these Googlers to work effectively and empathetically with autistic candidates and ensure Google’s onboarding processes are accessible and equitable. Stanford,Stanford Neurodiversity Project (part of the Stanford University School of Medicine), will also provide coaching to applicants, as well as ongoing support for them, their teammates and managers once they join the Google Cloud team. This is the definition of inclusion. That is what inclusionis all about. You can read Rob Enslin’s article hereImage Source: Google Cloud Blog

Google Cloud Security Summit was on July 20. Did you have time to attend it? If not, you can watch the video on demand. The big announcement at the event was a new service called Google IDS (Intrusion Detection Service), which requires security operation skills to set up and maintain.Securing network traffic with Cloud IDSIDS is a threat detection analyzer that works by mirroring packets of network traffic both within and within a VPC. Such a service is already available by enabling packet mirroring on a third-party service, such as that provided by ExtraHop, Cisco, Netscout or Check Point. If we compare the diagram in the image above with the network security diagram in Google Cloud before the introduction of IDS (image below) we can identify the differences, right?Securing network traffic before Cloud IDSLet me know your opinion on this. Is there anything else you liked about the Security Summit?

In episode 25 of That Digital Show, Jon Naseath joined @ChrisHood to discuss how enterprises address technology and strategic transformation and how the financial engineering of CapEx helps in the migration to the cloud. Watch and listen to the episode But what is CapEx? What is the relation with OpEx? And what has TCO done with them?CapEx is Capital Expenditure. For organizations that build and deploy apps on-premises, there’s a heavy emphasis on capital expenditure to set up and maintain their IT infrastructure. The main challenge is to carefully balance between under-purchasing and over-purchasing so that the organization doesn’t end up with unserved demand or wasted capacity.CapExOpEx comes from Operational Expenditure. When an organization migrates or builds and deploys apps using cloud services, there is a greater emphasis on operational expenditure. The organization is paying for what they need when they need it.With CapEx companies spent a substantial amount of money upfront
