Dear Team,

I am C.D. working in genomic research also organiser of GDG Cloud Cambridge. I am planning to organise a workshop on Slurm HPC on GCP, I am looking for help with trainer and materials. I have some github repos from Slurm but my objective is to setup HPC Cluster and run a genomics pipeline on GCP.

Tentative Agenda:

  1. Introduction of HPC
  2. Deploy Slurm Cluster
  3. Slurm Cluster (Pre-emptible VMs)? → Expert advice required.
  4. Run the pipeline on the cluster.

I would like to open the discussion with idea what else we can do and how can I get help with sponsor and trainer.

Hi, @cdtiwari. Thanks for sharing. I’m hoping someone from the community replies, but I’ll also check with our resources to see if we can help. 

We’d love for C2C to partner with you and whomever else is planning this event. If we do a joint event, we might be able to bring some experts to the table, as well as invite other C2C members to the workshop.

@Dale Rossi I feel like this might be up your alley. @cdtiwari Ditto Danny’s comment on joining forces to host the joint communities on this. 

Assuming when you say Cambridge, you are talking the Boston chapter right? I grew up 20 minutes west of the city. Would love to swap stories :)

Got it! We just launched a new UKI group last week, with a great group of gentlemen @PaulRLees @Fintan Murphy @andy.yates, to include @ilias running the ops and logistics. 

If you’d like to collaborate on an upcoming session for the UKI region, let’s get you together with these guys for the next coffee chat to talk through the concept and what you’d like to pull together and run from there.
