Cloud Native Apps and DevOps Services Cloud-native is an approach for building and running applications that exploits the advantages of the cloud computing delivery model. When companies build and operate applications using a cloud-native architecture, they bring new ideas to market faster and respond sooner to customer demands. A cloud-native application is a program, which is designed for a cloud computing architecture. These applications are run and hosted in the cloud and are designed to capitalize on the inherent characteristics of a cloud computing software delivery model. A native app is a software that is developed for use on a specific platform or device.Cloud-native applications use a microservice architecture. This architecture efficiently allocates resources to each service that the application uses, making the application flexible and adaptable to a cloud architecture. These microservices that are part of the cloud-native app architecture are packaged in containers that co
What Your SLAs Means?A service-level agreement (SLA) is a promise made to a user of a service, to indicate that the availability and reliability of the service should meet a certain level of expectation. SLAs act as a pact between the software provider and the software user or client. SLAs may also include responsiveness to incidents and bugs. It depends on the contract. However, if an SLA is broken, then some penalty may incurred, such as a refund or a service subscription credit.SLAs are an integral part of an IT vendor contract. An SLA pulls together information on all of the contracted services and their agreed-upon expected reliability into a single document. They clearly state metrics, responsibilities, and expectations so that in the event of issues with the service, neither party can plead ignorance. It ensures both sides have the same understanding of requirements. Any significant contract without an associated SLA (reviewed by legal counsel) is open to deliberate or inadvert
How do you quantify user happiness? It’s not easy to measure directly in our systems, but we can look for signals in the user journey. You may experience an outage or other problem that internally seems relatively small, but your users take to Twitter in droves and express their displeasure. Or, you may have a catastrophic event but receive few or no complaints from end users. It is impossible to get inside your users’ heads and see whether they are happy or not while using your service. To overcome this problem, we use the happiness metrics also known as Service Level Indicators (SLIs). SLIs specify, measure, and track user journey success. They are quantifiable measures of reliability. SLIs tell you whether you are in or out of compliance with your SLO targets and are therefore in danger of making users unhappy.Once you choose the services you want to measure, you can then think about the SLIs that you will use to measure users common tasks and critical activities. Choosing SLIs tha
Increasing visibility into our systems, code, and repositories is essential for effective DevOps processes. Previously repository audit logging was available for Docker repositories, but Google Cloud has expanded the capability to include Maven, npm, and Python repositories as well! This is a boon for visibility and monitoring! You can read about how to configure the monitoring by following the link included in this post. How have you implemented monitoring for your repositories? How mature is your organization in providing automated alerting and monitoring? Do you use the audit logging capabilities Google Cloud provides?https://cloud.google.com/artifact-registry/docs/audit-logging

Machine Learning is an essential component of every major tech product today. With tools like BigQuery ML, you don’t have to be a data scientist to quickly and easily incorporate ML into your applications. At a recent C2C Deep Dive event hosted by the Google Cloud startups team, Google Cloud AI/ML Specialist Customer Engineers Mike Walker and Rob Vogelbacher explained how you can use BigQuery ML to power insights for you and your customers. There are many built-in algorithms for regression, classification, clustering, forecasting, and recommendations that you can train with just a few lines of SQL. All these help you learn more from your data in a short time and in a cost-effective way. The models you build can be called from BigQuery or from external applications. The recording from this session includes the following topics:(0:00) Introduction from C2C (2:35) What is BigQuery? (6:00) Decoupled storage and compute on BigQuery (8:00) Typical ML Workflow (10:00) BigQuery ML and AI (11:30)

C2C is a global community where Google Cloud customers and partners can explore new technical solutions and transform their businesses using Google Cloud products. What makes C2C so unique, however, is the opportunity for our members to meet, share their knowledge, and collaborate with one another. Learning which products to use and how to use them is important, but the chance to hear the story of another colleague who has done so successfully or tell your own success story is vital. To demonstrate this value to our membership, C2C has introduced a new program all about recognizing the individuals who make our community so dynamic and rewarding. Let’s say it’s the first day in your new job and you have lots of questions. Where is the HR department located or how do I validate parking? Wouldn’t it be great if you could just ask a chatbot rather than reading through an internal Wiki? Here is a recipe to build one: Select your reference documents and pre-process them in Vertex AI Workbench Download a model from TensorFlow Hub and register with Vertex AI Have Vertex AI process your questions and answers Use Cloud Functions for your REST endpoint Use the Speech-To-Text and Text-To-Speech APIs to allow users using their voice rather than typing Sounds complicated? Nikita Namjoshi and Zack Akil demonstrate in this 16 minutes Google Cloud Applied ML Summit video how to do just that.https://youtu.be/5iSmX8sqtx8

Hi there! I’m new to the community and wondering if anyone knows of any GCP-compatible platforms out there to help us with create an app (software development). I don’t yet have a tech team, and I am not that technical - I’d like to build my MVP and launch it via the Google Play and App Store. I’ve looked into AppSheets but I dont think that will solve our needs. Our startup is in the healthcare space, so we need HIPAA compliance out of the gate as well for data collection. Finally, no matter what, it’s important to me that we own the source code of whatever we’re building - I am not interested in giving up equity for services at this stage. Thank you and I’m super glad to meet you all!
This is the first time I have read an article like this. Where Google Cloud is talking about third-party applications.Has anyone used or still use any of these applications? @Fintan Murphy, @andy.yates @Kim.Nilsson @alan.muntadas All I knew and used was DocuSign.@PaulRLees where is Patronum? 😉https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/workspace/recommended-google-workspace-marketplace-apps-that-work-with-the-tools
For many years customers running POSTINI (which later got migrated to Google Vault) had the luxury of having free leaver licenses for those employees who had left the organisation. This free license allowed the business to retain the email data of the ex-employees. Organisations with lengthy POSTINI contracts were later provided Vault Former Employee (VFE) licenses, also for free. Archive User licensesNow that those contracts are coming to an end, Google are moving organisations from VFE to Archive User (AU) licenses, however AU licenses are not free ($4 - Business Plus, $7 - Enterprise Plus, per user per month.)So many organisations are now looking at this data and having conversations around retention rules for ex-employees. As previously discussed migrating emails does not seem to be an option favoured by many. After all, emails are private and personal by design, they should not be migrated to another employee with “insider knowledge” who would browse through 1000’s of emails to f

We have recently taken ownership of another entity and unfortunately, do not have admin access to their google space. I am very frustrated as an IT exec that I cannot find someone to help with this situation. We are legal owners of the information kept in google workspace, however there is no method for us to gain access to the information stored here. Can someone please give some insight as to how to get in touch with someone at Google to rectify this situation? Thanks,
